I’ve been on a bit of a baking kick lately and am loving the printable cupcake toppers over on The TomKat Studio blog. So I decided to have a go at decorating my own cupcakes, and since Father’s Day is coming up this Sunday, I figured this would be the perfect time to try it out! I read up on how to frost cupcakes, bought a cupcake decorating set and made some fun Father’s Day printable cupcake toppers. Here’s how my cupcakes turned out…
I used a box mix for the cupcakes, and this tasty recipe for American Buttercream icing. But if you’re not into baking or just don’t have time, you could easily buy some cupcakes from the grocery store, assemble the cupcake toppers, stick ‘em in and you’re good to go!
I’ve included the Father’s Day printable cupcake toppers that I created here for download, and I think I might also use them as gift tags. (Disclaimer: I am not a designer, so these aren’t quite as snazzy as the ones from The TomKat Studio. But I think they they turned out alright and hopefully you like them, too!)
To use as cupcake toppers, use a 2 inch circle punch to cut out each circle. Tape the circles to lollipop sticks and insert into decorated cupcakes.
To use as gift tags, cut the squares out as they are or use a 2 inch circle punch, whichever you prefer. Punch a hole in the top of the tag, and attach to gift with ribbon.
And if you haven’t already bought a card, check out these fantastic free Father’s Day cards! Also from The TomKat Studio. See above comment about loving this blog.
Have a Happy Father’s Day everyone!
